House Party!!
Hola Amigos, my name is David Reyes Heredia. let me take you back to the genesis of Dominicans in L.A. It all started with a posting I made in www.DR1.com in June 2005. I asked the question, "Are there any Dominicans living in L.A.?" To my surprise, it sparked a frenzy of posts, remarks, phone number exchanges, etc. Many people have contacted me and I have met some wonderful people since then.
One of the lovely individuals I met was Ilonka Garcia. She and I have really hit it off and got the great idea of getting some of the individuals from DR1 together and meet in person. Also, to sell tickets for the upcoming Dominican Republic Independence day (Feb. 27th) celebration on the 25th of February. What a pleasure it was meeting those of you who were able to make it out yesterday Feb.11th. It was a great time, ILonka our gracious host, opened up her house and her kitchen to meet and greet you all and it was an absolute blast.
What started out as a simple quiet get together, turned into a pumpin' Dominican party! It started at 11am and it was non-stop dancing till 9:00pm! As some of us trickled out, new faces trickled in. It was a sight you had to see to believe! Only a few photos were taken of the early group of people who arrived. Then once the Brugal, Hennessy and Mama Juana came out, the camera got the rest of the night off.

If you have any suggestions on how I can make it stronger and (or) get more people involved in contributing, please let me know. It's about time we figured out a way to unite the Dominicans in Los Angeles.

Fanny: I will be sure to load this page with as many pictures as possible of the event. I want for all of us to remember the great time we've been having together. It doesn't have to stop at Feb. 25th's Party. I want to organize a night out camping, a day at Magic Mountain, a day in Big bear. Just wait and see!!!

I just wanted to say that it's nice what you've done and I'm jealous, although I'm originally from LA (Pomona, actually), I live in the Bay Area and want to start a network like yours up in N. California. Maybe in the future we can do an North meets South.

Well, got news for you!!! I happened to stop by the Bodegon yesterday, (to the ones who don't know what the Bodegon is yet!!! It's the place where the people of the Dominican Club happen to meet, Sundays and for special events; anyway you all will find more info about this, I promise!!) and to my surprise they were ensallando!!! what????? stay tuned!!!! Braulio who is the president of the club, La Doctora Anna and her Daughter who are investing some great time doing the coreography part, Myra guerrero who is the treasurer, Phyllip the vice-president, Mateo (que vende unos dulces de coco riquisimos!!!!), and a whole group of people are promessing an unforgetable night, full of music, food and a show that will take your brain and soul back to DR at least for some minutes. Just remember!!! We are celebrating the Independence of our beloved country, and yes here in LA. I can't wait!!! By the way, I highly suggest that you guys try to be as early as you can, so we can all sit together and have a blast!!! Just remember the party starts at 7:00 p.m. !!!

Perlaena,
I am looking forward to taking pictures of the event. I will be dancing, but I will be mingling a bit more just because I want to meet and greet. I want to get as many pictures of the event posted here this weekend. So Sunday night stay tuned for some pictures.
I'll have to invent another short story to document the event.

Monchy didn't win anything? How terrible. Their last album was incredible. I didn't watch it but I bet Aventura took it all. I wonder if mah boy Antony Santos got anything? I dont think he's won any major billboard awards.
